Alexandra Leonhard is a senior researcher in Economics. Her research at SIEPS focuses on the debt of the EU-countries, the banking union as well as a project that compares Sweden’s economic development and the current state compared to specific EU-countries and averages in the EU and Eurozone.
Alexandra doctoral thesis in monetary policy assessed the inflation targeting strategy of central banks, its predictability and target fulfilment as well as the relationship of asset prices and the interest rate. During this research she also worked at the Swedish National Financial Management Authority and was responsible for the forecasts of the corporate income tax.
Since then her work has focused on household debt, the housing market and macro-prudential policy at the National Board of Housing, Finansinspektionen (Swedish Financial Supervisory Agency), and the Ministry of Finance. At the Ministry of Finance, she participated as a national expert in a working group that analysed models of structural reforms (LIME- working group) within the Economic Policy Committee.
