The EU Presidencies

Timeframe: Completed
Project Managers: Göran von Sydow and Pernilla Bäckman

Since 2003, SIEPS has had a project devoted to the rotating presidency of the EU. The entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty changes the role of the presidency in a number of ways and a set of functions previously exercised by the presidency are now in the hands of new functions at the EU-level. This has reduced the role of the presidency but it still performs a set of functions as chair of most council formations. From 2013, the publication format of this project will be a bi-annual European Policy Analysis which focuses on the expectations ahead of an in-coming presidency.
