Stuck in the Exit: the Dynamics of British-EU Relations
The United Kingdom is one of the European Union’s more reluctant members. A domestic debate has indeed started on EU competences, and a possible referendum on membership.
Some other member states have expressed concern over this development and await the results from the on-going review of the country's relations with the EU, recently initiated by the British government.
In this analysis, Roderick Parkes explains the UK’s strained relationship with the EU. He uses the EU's “group dynamics” in order to explain the country's current position and how it might evolve in the future.
The analysis is published in the context of SIEPS' research project The political system of the European Union.
