The Centre Is Holding: Coalitions and Majorities in a Fragmented European Parliament

The 2024 European elections resulted in a more right-leaning European Parliament. Contrary to some expectations, this has not produced a stable right-wing majority: the traditional pro-European coalition remains the Parliament’s main decision-making engine. Another key finding is that the centre-right EPP has gained greater leverage against other groups.
