Fiscal Federalism, Subsidiarity and the EU Budget Review (2009:1)
The intention of the ongoing review of the EU budget is to create a budget that is better adapted at facing future challenges. At the same time it raises fundamental questions about what the EU is and should do.
In a new report from the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies, Professor Iain Begg, London School of Economics and Political Science, examines the answers provided by the relevant literature and analyses under which circumstances the subsidiarity principle can be convincingly applied in the discussion on the future of the EU budget.
The report was presented at the seminar EU Budget Reform - Insights from Theory and is a part of the research project The EU Budget.
