Hannes Lenk
Senior Researcher in Law
Hannes is a senior researcher in law with a particular focus on EU external relations and EU procedural law. With his work he contributes to research on the constitutional framework for the EU’s negotiation of international trade and investment agreements, inter-institutional relations in the implementation of these agreements, as well as the EU’s role in the reform of international institutional frameworks. Hannes also researches the member states’ role before the European Courts, and follows developments on the internal market as well as the EU’s monetary policy.
Hannes gained his Ph.D. in international law in 2019 at the University of Gothenburg. He also holds an LL.M. in European Law from Leiden University as well as an LL.B. in European Legal Studies from Westminster University (London). Hannes has published widely in a range of international peer-reviewed journals and edited selections with amongst others Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Hart Publishing, and Springer.
In addition to his position with SIEPS, Hannes is also assistant professor at Aarhus University (Denmark), as well as a member of both the Academic Forum of ISDS Reform and the SepaRope project group on Separation of Powers for 21st Century Europe.
