A Legal Analysis of the Global Financial Crisis from an EU Perspective (2009:10epa)
The current European Policy Analysis focuses on legal and institutional issues relating to the financial crisis from an EU perspective. The text contains a brief assessment of some elements of the plan agreed at the London Summit of the so called G-20 and a discussion on the possible impact of the financial crisis on the future development of the EU.
An initial analysis is also made of the measures and proposals that were agreed by the European Council in June 2009. The text concludes inter alia that the EU has to do more than what has hitherto been agreed by the G-20: if the EU fails to do so, its financial market could be destabilised and this might by extension ruin the stability and proper functioning of the single market.
The analysis is part of the research project Long-term Effects of the Economic Crisis.
